VMware vCenter Server 8 Standard for Virtual Infrastructure Management
vCenter Server 8 Standard is a powerful foundational tool for managing a vSphere-based infrastructure and its environment. Advanced server management software provides a wide range of features to reliably automate and configure, as well as further customize or delete virtual data centers, virtual machines and virtual applications in hybrid clouds. In addition, the functionality of VMware vCenter Server 8 Standard can be easily extended through various plug-ins, such as the integration of physical and virtual management tools.
With VMware vCenter Server 8 Standard, organizations can leverage a scalable and extensible platform to easily and efficiently manage a wide range of VMware scenarios - up to a large number of virtual machines, storage systems or virtual networks.
vCenter Server 8 Standard Centralized Management Solution for VMware Virtual Machines, Esxi Hosts and Applications
The vCenter Server 8 Standard Update Manager and vCenter Converter are also integrated into vCenter 8 Standard. VMware vCenter Server centrally manages many virtual machines distributed across one or more ESXi hosts. Using vCenter Server 8 Standard, performance measurements of all hosts and virtual machines can also be centrally recorded and evaluated.
By centrally managing virtual hosts and virtual machines from a single console, vCenter Server 8 provides simple and comprehensive control, including all levels of visibility. The powerful tools in vCenter Server 8 Standard thus simplify efficient management of the vSphere infrastructure and also provide extensive control capabilities. In addition, workload live migration, full clone and cold migration for vMotion are also available through vCenter Server. The Web Services API also facilitates flexible integration of vCenter Server with existing systems management software.
vCenter Server 8 Standard - Improved Performance and Scalability for Large Virtual Infrastructures
vCenter Server 8 Standard provides proactive, automated management to dynamically provision new services. Resources can be allocated and optimized with maximum efficiency. For example, up to 15 vCenter Server instances can manage 70,000 virtual machines and 5,000 hosts. Through dynamic resource management, including resource allocation, vCenter Server intelligently allocates available resources to virtual machines. This facilitates service level compliance against service level agreements (SLAs) for critical business applications.
vCenter Server 8 Standard includes all available vCenter Server features. Up to 2,000 vSphere ESXi hosts can be managed.
vCenter Server can also seamlessly extend on-premises environments to vSphere-based public clouds such as VMware Cloud on AWS - transparently managing up to 2,000 hosts and 35,000 virtual machines with a single vCenter Server instance - regardless of which version of vCenter Server is running.
