What's New in VMware vSphere 8 Standard
VMware vSphere 8 Standard is one of four vSphere editions. vSphere 8 Standard is licensed by physical host processors. Since version 7, the maximum number of processor cores is limited to 32. The size of the main memory is not taken into account. Any number of virtual machines (VMs) can run on a licensed vSphere server. Does not include vCenter Server (/vendor/vmware/vcenter-server/standard/). The primary use cases for vSphere Standard are server consolidation and business continuity.
vSphere 8 Standard includes new features and enhancements
When upgrading vSphere systems, it has been proven that the vCenter version is always greater than or equal to the ESXi version. This ensures that you can take advantage of all the new features introduced in the latest vSphere release. For more information about vSphere build numbers, see VMware vCenter Server Build Numbers and Versions and VMware ESXi/ESX Build Numbers and Versions. For information about upgrade restrictions for vSphere back-in-time versions, see VMware knowledgebase article 67077.
vSphere Cluster Service (vCLS) enhancements: With vSphere 7.0 Update 3, vSphere administrators can configure vCLS virtual machines to run on specific datastores by configuring vCLS datastore settings for virtual machines of each cluster. Administrators can also define data processing policies to specify how vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) should place groups of vCLS proxy VMs (vCLS VMs) and other workload VMs.
VMware vSphere 8 Standard provides a highly flexible virtualization platform
VMware vSphere 8 Standard is a virtualization platform for data centers and servers, making it a key digital foundation for cloud infrastructures. With vSphere 8 Standard, datacenters can be easily transformed into cloud environments regardless of device applications and operating systems.
